Insight by De–sign

I am pleased to announce the publication of my first book, Insight by de–sign.

Abstract: Insight by de–sign develops a diagrammatic approach to understanding the relationship between design and insight. It advances the thesis that insights are not discovered, revealed, or mined; rather, they are operatively de–signed. The prefix de in design signals a negation of the contingency between space and sign, while the hyphen marks the distinction drawn within the operation itself. Through the negativity of the sign, space collapses into form: the command to de–sign functions not as the creation of signs but as their removal—an exclusion of possible sign-propositions within space. De–sign thus emerges as an act of structured exclusion, in which the field of spatial possibilities is crossed out to produce form.
